The bank acknowledged the issues accessing its services at 9.19pm AEDST; they were reported to be fixed at 5.17am.

“Our mobile and online banking services are now restored and running as usual,” it said in its most recent update on X, formerly Twitter.

“We want to apologise to all our customers who were impacted by the issue overnight.

“We recognise this took too long to resolve and we thank customers for their patience.”

Earlier, the bank had attributed the problems to “a routine technology update”; it did not say whether or not it had rolled back the update to fix the service accessibility issues.

During the outage, customers reported being unable to pay for items. Some small businesses also appeared impacted, as they were unable to run overnight processes.
