Impacts applications and iPad users "across the service".

Queensland Police has reported “delays” in accessing data held in its core operational database, which it is attributing to unspecified system “updates” made on Wednesday.

Queensland Police system update causes data access issues

The police service said in a statement that the delays are impacting “all QPRIME applications and QLITE devices across the service”.

QPRIME is the Queensland police records and information management exchange. The core database was built progressively in the early-to-mid 2000s to replace 234 information systems with a single point of access to intelligence and data.

QLITE, meanwhile, is a fleet of iPad devices used by officers in the field.

The police service said that at one point, the problems with accessing data held in QPRIME “also affected the Police Communication Centre, which experienced an increase in processing time for Triple Zero calls during peak periods.”

“The Queensland Police Service has made changes to the systems and these delays are no longer presenting,” it said.

“At this stage we are not aware of any impacts to the community, or officer safety.

“Calls for service are still being allocated and resourced appropriately.”

The service said that it is “closely” monitoring the QPRIME system.

A further update on the technology issues is expected today.
