Some NBN voice services, and resellers, also hit by four-hour outage.

Optus is suffering a major mobile network outage, with its own customers unable to make or receive calls, and people on other networks unable to reach Optus numbers.

Optus has not yet explained the outage, saying only that “we are currently experiencing a major outage. Your voice service may be interrupted.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to you during this time.”

Its network status Twitter account added that its NBN landline customers may also be affected.

The outage has also hit Optus reseller Aussie Broadband, which switched from Telstra to Optus as its wholesale provider last year.

It was four hours before Optus Tweeted that the outage had been resolved.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">UPDATE: This fault was a priority for our teams and the technical issue impacting customers has been successfully resolved. <br><br>We sincerely apologise to our customers for any inconvenience and thank them for their patience while affected services were restored.</p>&mdash; Optus (@Optus) <a href="https://twitter.com/Optus/status/1511174997934764034?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 5, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
