NAB has emerged as an adopter of Microsoft’s Copilot for Security, using it within Intune as part of its oversight of “over 60,000 endpoints”.

The usage is disclosed in a case study dated July 8, which describes some of the security tooling within the Microsoft ecosystem that the bank has taken up.

Copilot for Security was made generally available to customers in April. LinkedIn records show that bank-linked personnel were certified in its use only in the past couple of months.

The case study states that engineers are using Copilot for Security to “work through millions of security event logs” and to “ask really important questions and get answers, especially within Microsoft Intune and how we manage our endpoints.”

While NAB has been using Intune for some time, the bank said it took on more security tooling from Microsoft several years ago, coinciding with its adoption of the Windows 11 operating system.

Workplace technology general manager Greg Farmer said that in addition to Intune, the bank is using “Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Defender XDR, and a number of the other security products and services to boost our overall security profile.”

The bank is also making use of Windows Hello for Business to allow employees to self-serve password resets.

“Instead of spending five minutes on the phone with the support desk, they can log in straight away using biometrics,” subdomain lead for retail in NAB’s technology division, Jess Gordon said.
