The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has spent $54 million on a refresh of its end-user devices.
The department has appointed Dell Technologies to deliver an unspecified number of laptops, desktops, monitors and services for the next three years.
A department spokesperson told iTnews that it approached 13 suppliers on the Digital Transformation Agency’s (DTA) Hardware Marketplace before selecting Dell.
“This arrangement will provide both continuity and consistency in the hardware fleet across the department’s ICT ecosystem,” a DAFF spokesperson said.
The agency declined to comment further on the number of devices purchased.
DAFF is currently refreshing its wider technology stack as it pivots away from a previous shared services arrangement with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
As a result, DAFF reorganised its ICT and digital services into a unit called the Digital Services Division (DSD).
The department plans to assemble a “service catalogue” of providers in six areas, including enterprise service management, end user productivity, hybrid compute and storage, managed network services, telecommunications and “staff augmentation”.
The new services would need to be in place by May 2024, according to documents released last year.
So far it has appointed Accenture to handle its enterprise service management services as part of this ICT refresh.
