ASX names new technology and data lead
Jamie Crank from the ASX.

Former general manager of trading and markets Jamie Crank will now take on the role of group executive of technology and data from September 9.

His predecessor Dan Chesterman, who started as chief information officer in September 2017 before becoming group executive of technology and data, announced his departure in May.

In a LinkedIn post, the ASX said Crank, who joined the exchange in 2016 as a senior manager of information services, was appointed to lead technology following an “extensive external and internal search process”.

“Jamie brings his deep knowledge of exchanges from a career spanning more than 20 years, including eight years at ASX and a number of years at Chi-X Australia and the London Stock Exchange,” the ASX said.

The group executive for technology and data is responsible for the data products ASX distributes, its data centre and connectivity services businesses, its enterprise data strategy, and a team that focuses on new product development and innovation.

Speaking in May, CEO and managing director Helen Lofthouse said that under Chesterman’s leadership, a significant amount of change had been delivered.

However, the ASX has also battled with the aftermath of an unsuccessful re-platforming of its clearing and settlement system to distributed ledger-based technology.

The exchange had to go back to the drawing board on the system replacement, and still faces court action as a result of the project.
