AMP boosts board-level digital expertise

Two new non-executive directors join, one departs.

AMP Group has added “significant skills and experience in digital transformation, technology and financial services" to its board, appointing two new two independent non-executive directors.

The financial institution announced Kathleen Bailey-Lord and Anna Leibel will be joining the AMP Limited Board and AMP Bank Board in the new year.

Bailey-Lord has previously held senior roles at ANZ and IBM Australia and New Zealand, and is currently on the board of directors for Alinta Energy, Datacom and St Vincents Health Australia (SVHA).

Leibel, meanwhile. will be joining the risk and compliance committee and holds strong experience across private and public boards and holds experience across the service industries.

Leibel has previously held the roles of chief delivery and information officer and chief information officer at UniSuper; her past experience also includes PwC and Telstra.  

Also today, AMP also announced Kate McKenzie will be stepping down from her position as a non-executive director after three years on the AMP Limited and AMP Bank boards.

McKenzie joined AMP in 2020; she remains chair of NBN Co, interim chair of Healius Ltd and a non-executive director on the Stockland board.

McKenzie was Telstra’s chief operating officer before moving to New Zealand telco infrastructure company Chorus.

AMP chair Debra Hazelton thanked McKenzie her time on the board while welcoming the new members.

“I would like to sincerely thank Kate for the invaluable experience, insight and governance she has brought to the board. Her commitment and passion for the business over the past three years has been instrumental to the ongoing transformation of AMP," Hazelton said.

“I am also delighted to welcome Kathleen and Anna to the Board. We have sought to continue to build on the skills of the board to develop in the areas of technology and customer-focused transformation which are critical to AMP’s success into the future."
